SunRise

High-Level Project Summary

Knowing that we have an inexhaustible source of energy, we are not yet using it as we should. With this in mind, the time has come to make a change in the way we interpret it.We present SunRise, an app capable of show the end user how to use, install and take advantage of the technology, without read tons of papers or know how to calculate all the variables needes in this implementations.

Detailed Project Description

The Sun has the potential to supply 100% of the electricity needed in every country of the world (in fact, a single second of energy produced by the Sun is more than the energy consumed by humanity in all our history) and, in the other hand, the world has a lack of electrical power supply because we are using more energy every year.

There’s no doubt about that the sun has an endless energy (that we are looking for), but, why aren’t we taking full advantage of this fact?

Well, maybe it’s because there are many engineering stuffs involved in the process of calculating certain necessary values and implementing the technology in order to accomplish that goal.

And, why don’t show that information in a simple and understandable way for everyone?

SunRise is an incredible project, born in consequence of the study about the truly potential of the sun power and the necessity of using in the most efficient way.

Using the available datasets of NASA POWER, CNES, AJAX, ESA and SMN, we aim to process the data, filter only the necessary information and show to the end users just a few parameters that allow them to understand how they can exploit their resources (such as a solar panel or a solar furnace).

We will set up an app that will have the possibility of understand that data, show only sun time available per day, a forecast for one week and how much energy we will be able to use, with or without the solar panel. With this function the end users will know even if it’s profitable the usage of this technology or not, because we know there are a lot of people that don’t know how to use it and if they will find it useful.

Using the parameters of the datasets and the mobile phone of the user, the app can show if it’s possible or not based on the surrounding buildings, the angle of incidence of the sun (we will know if it’s necessary do a little correction in the orientation of the solar panel thanks to the app!), and how much energy will have available with different kinds of solar panels.

SunRise Will have a function to show the user how much energy they could get, coming from a solar panel and how much will it cost in their country (because we know, the economy is important for people).

Other function will be a calculator that will allow the end user to put some information about the elements or devices he/she want to energize and if it will be possible having in consideration all the things we talked about earlier.

In summary, we will create an app that uses Visual Recognition (for the Sun’s position and building avoidance), AI (because we want to do a brief forecast of how much energy we could use in a few days in the future), and AR (augmented reality, to facilitate the users the task of positioning their solar panels with the aid of the cellphone.

And how much money to save thanks to this implementation (let's not forget that they will also be doing good to our planet)

Do you want to use it for a large industry or agriculture? This app is just what you need, being completely flexible to the demand and requirement of the user, since the information will be useful to them in the same way.

There's no need to know anything about solar power nor be an expert in that field, you just can use our app and everything will be easier!

Bring knowledge to all the people in our mission, and do it in the simplest way. entertaining and understandable is our goal

Using this app we'll bring the knowledge about solar energy to everyone, and it will be fun and practical to learn!

Space Agency Data

We use the data of NASA POWER (https://power.larc.nasa.gov/docs/services/api/) to understand and process the data to do our research and the implementation of this data to our app.

We use several APIs from different space agencies and we use them to do an average of their data, and use this as our own API.

Hackathon Journey

That was an incredible experience, as always, we are learning lot of new information and ways to use it through the work from others teams
