Sunshine

High-Level Project Summary

Our solution to the task "You are my sunshine" is a mobile application for easy access to solar data. We receive data from the NASA POWER api and display it to the user in a simple form. As part of the hackathon, we simply showed the required data to the user, but our plans are to use this data to predict the next ones or to create an application for owners of solar panels

Detailed Project Description

Our solution is a mobile application written in flutter (dart programming language). Our main task was to display the data received from the NASA POWER api in an easy and accessible form.

Now the application consists of two main parts: a block of instructions for the user (slider) and the main functionality of obtaining data about solar data for the selected time.

Due to lack of time, we didn't have time to finish the application a bit, but we did the main part. We plan to complete the work in the near future.

In addition to the usual display of NASA data, we plan to make this application specifically for owners of solar panels: calculating the energy received at certain data, predicting future illumination data, comparing real data with those indicated to improve the quality of work, etc.

Before that, we had a lot of experience working with web applications, so it is possible that we will develop a web version of the application for browser access.

Working with NASA assignments was very interesting, thank you for this opportunity)

Space Agency Data

To display the data in the application, we used the NASA POWER api. As part of the hackathon, we needed to display the simplest data, but in the future we can use the api more extensively

Hackathon Journey

Before that, we had the experience of participating in various hackathons in popular and not so popular, but NASA and space topics have become one of the most interesting tasks.

There were many interesting challenges, for example, we initially considered a task to track space debris in orbit, but in the end we chose to work with NASA POWER api data.

We are very happy to participate in this hackathon and are grateful for the opportunity to work with such an organization. Thank you for interesting tasks and cool open data!
