Detailed Project Description
We developed a tool that is capable of generating relevant information about the niche of the solar energy, through some diagrams with information about energy by solar radiation, allowing the user to both acquire and to compare information that would make it easier to take decisions about investing in solar energy.
Through information that NASA API NasaPower provided, where they collect information via satellite about solar radiation on an specific area in Kwh/m², then we can analyse the amount of energy that a solar panel could produce, and with some few information provided by the user, we generate some useful diagram's that can help the user to know about the Kwh/month a solar panel could produce and the money it would save.
Besides being an application integrated with satellite data, we have a facility and information transparency that is capable of encouraging the solar energy usage, promoting the clean energy solution, with the development of an comprehensible user interface, we carry the information to many levels of interested people, that would be capable to compare the data and contest with information of the third party market.
We hope that we could really make the data accessible, so it would be relevant to our user to manage it's energy consumption, plan and comprehend what is happening with it's power source, or even, encourage him to make the decision to invest in this type of energy solution.
To develop this application, we used some programming languages as: Python, JavaScript, Jquery, besides some softwares as: Django Rest Framework, and information acquired by NasaPower API.
Space Agency Data
By the API NasaPower: https://power.larc.nasa.gov/api/temporal/daily/point
The air relative Humidity, we utilised the #> RH2M (Merra - 2 Relative Humidity at 2 Meters (%);
The temperature, we utilised the #>T2M (Merra-2 Temperature at 2 Meters (°C);
The solar irradiance, we utilised the #> ALLSKY_SFC_SW_DWN (CERES SYN1deg All Sky Surcafe Shortwave Downward Irradiance (kW-hr/m²/day));
Hackathon Journey
I would describe as a fantastic activity. Since my early ages I've been fascinated by space subjects, and to have this interaction by this app, is something special.
Team Work, fast thinking developing and a knew perspective on challenges with a short deadline.
We have a need to be more productive, be more, be greater, start an company, etc. I consider this mentality one of the most brilliant things that is happening on the world. And have the opportunity to create in one of theses challenges, is to have the changing potential that a few human activities can have.
Every person could play their roles at they best knowledge fields, just to get on the best solution we could.
Hugo:
My experience still is too recent, this being my first challenge, i'm enjoying the stones we found up until now.
I've learned so much about internet protocols, and I've improved my team work, developing a app is something challenging where we must focus on so many different things.
Our region is acknowledge for having a great solar energy abundance, and as we are engineers, we've got a great interest in cost reduction and process improvement.
We tasked everyone with their best skills, and I've got responsible for the research of useful information and user experience, we've been researching for answers that we could answer with our application.
If i would thank someone, couldn't be anyone but they who always helps me to reach my goals specially, my family, or my mother, Lena.
