Every day, the sun gives off far more energy than we need to power everything on earth. Its radiation controls every possible chance to improve humans lives whether by understanding its physical properties to create projects that depend on the radiation state or to explore more about the universe

Its radiation controls every possible chance to improve humans lives whether by understanding its physical properties to create projects that depend on the radiation state or to explore more about the universe 



How We Addressed This Challenge : 



Project Summary:


Our project is a combination between software algorithms and hardware components represented in a high-performance-secured Solar Tracking system connected with a microcontroller, specific sensors, controlling electric unit  so all that can be monitored via mobile app 


 Importance:


 Social awareness of solar energy importance in our life will make us aware of the adverse effects of the sun to avoid sunburns, harmful UV rays, skin cancers…etc.

It depends on whether your usage is industrial, personal, or geophysical studies.



Ø Industrial usages:

In solar energy generating stations:






  1. Getting maximum benefit from solar energy to rapidly develop and revive the economy.
  2. Giving global alternative clean solutions for energy shortage issues using GPS, Date and Time algorisms in industry.


Ø Personal use (Home usage):






  1. Keep the environment clean and healthy, unlike fossil fuels.
  2. Rationalize and follow personal consumption whether you are home or away through the app.


Ø Geophysical studies:






  1. Determine whether some area is suitable for generating solar power energy
  2. Provide researchers with geophysical data for studies.
  3. Achieving maximum benefit of radiation in a specific area.



§ In this project, we used a “solar tracking system” whether “single or dual-axis” to produce the maximum amount of clean renewable energy with minimal costs.

§ The device is connected to sensors and a remote-control unit which is controlled with a restricted secure system. these units allow secure information exchange.



Methodology:

  • Data are recognized and used through location detection. The purpose of these data is industrial, personal or geophysical studies
  • It depends whether you have a solar energy system or not;







  •  If you don’t have the solar energy system, but you want to have one and cannot decide whether it suits you or not through live info and readings about the location:

→ First, you use GPS to locate the area, then through API algorisms,






  • our app can provide you with the readings of:

1-Is it possible to get the benefits of solar power as a source of energy

2-radiation intensity

3-panels number you needed to set up your solar energy system

4-approximate setup costs

5-needed battery capacity for setup

 






  •  If you have a solar energy system:


→ In Industrial and personal purposes:

1. You need to monitor the consumption, weather and state of your solar energy system.

2. They are allowed through charts and diagrams.



→ In geographical studies purposes:






  1. It helps to study the nature of radiation in a specific area. These data are so beneficial in researches.


Benefits of the project :

  • Radiation Intensity and the best spot for the panels’ installation  
  • surroundings environment  
  • Electric Consumption rate and the distributed power 
  • Solar unit state ( mechanical parts, panels’ surface, the controlling unit and hazard situation)
  • Batteries charging level 


Problem faced :


1. Difficult use of (API) in the detection of locations and radiation.

2. Inability to apply “Tracking system” but we used the main parts to clarify, simplify and explain the idea.

3. The a great need for data servers to process these data and make them beneficial. we could overcome that by applying it to specific locations to explain the idea


Achievements:


Using this technology;






  1. We could remotely detect whether the location is suitable or not to get the maximum benefits of solar energy. The info is simple and accessible.
  2. An option provides the researcher with geophysical data for studies and experiments.
  3.  Simplification and accessibility of data for normal users.

Hackathon Journey

In conclusion, our journey during the hackathon will be memorable as we believe that with our effort we change the world to be a clean place and let the next generation be a better version of themselves

as our solution for the challenge is a link between industry and the normal person so it can be applied in real life, and we get benefitted from the app as a monitor and the tracking system as a customer’s product
