TAFFOUKT

High-Level Project Summary

Our application is to meet the challenge of making the NASA database accessible to users all over the world, and empowering them to use solar panels in their daily life to save energy, so our role is to facilitate and motivate these tasks for users.

Detailed Project Description

In our app we have given users three possibilities :

  •  First if they need help sizing and installing solar panels for the first time so that they have suggestions on how much panels to  use, the installation price and return on investment. and it depends on the consumption initially entered by the user, also add the stores where he can find panels to facilitate the search, and why not collaborate with these stores in the future
  • The second option is to have information about the weather of the region in which we are and the energy production that is possible in a digital or graphical display that represents the average solar radiation for each week, and there will also be the possibility to modify the parameters so that the user has greater flexibility.
  •  Finally an education tool to inform the user about the solar energy the operating mode and the meaning of the scientific words used so that everyone can use it without difficulty.

for that we used figma to develop the application and database of NASA

Space Agency Data

the database we used is from this website "https://power.larc.nasa.gov/data-access-viewer/ " to plot the graphs, as an example of the information we used is Native Resolution Daily Data

Dates (month/day/year): 01/01/2020 through 12/31/2020

Location: Latitude 34.0278 Longitude -4.9907

Elevation from MERRA-2: Average for 0.5 x 0.625 degree lat/lon region = 575.32 meters

Parameter(s):

ALLSKY_SFC_SW_DWN  CERES SYN1deg All Sky Surface Shortwave Downward Irradiance (kW-hr/m^2/day) , Daily Average for the week, Solar irradiance etc...

Hackathon Journey

this experience is really wonderful, gave us the opportunity to work in a group of different people, to have different ideas, we learned new things, to turn ideas into a real project, to solve a problem which consists to facilitate the integration of renewable energies in our daily life, to create an application in a very limited time.

we are therefore happy to live these moments with a motivated group.

there were also workshops that we learned a lot from them.

so we would like to thank NASA SPACE APPS CHALLENGE for giving us this opportunity, we would also like to thank all the mentors for their advice, they were very helpful
