Our project is a mobile app that runs on IOS and ANDROID that educates users about solar radiation .The main goal is to make users know how to minimize the risk and maximize the benefit of sunlight (solar radiation). Using NASA POWER data, we effectively provided accurate data, presenting them in creative and interactive ways. It features data designed to provide access to parameters specifically tailored to assist in the design of solar and wind powered renewable energy systems. It also features data designed to provide industry-friendly parameters for the buildings community. This data was presented in creative and interactive ways e.g. Informing users the best time to wear sunscreens.
We developed a mobile app capable of displaying real time NASA POWER data to the general public in creative ways. The mobile app UI works is an illustration of the native app, it works using basic clicks, the UI was designed using Figma Software. It has several benefits including the following
We hope to launch this app in the soonest future, so it will serve the above benefits.
We used Photoshop to create the logo on the splash screen, we used Figma to create the UI of the app, we used WPS Powerpoint to create the project demo powerpoint presentation
We used data gotten from NASA Prediction Of Worldwide Energy Resource(POWER), we also got information from several websites including Quora(confirmed and rechecked), Wikipedia, National geographic.com.
We felt in power, we had accurate data from POWER, we accessed it using the Data Access Viewer on the website. It inspired our project, because we could finally trust the data we were seeing.
It was a very blissful journey for us. We didn't know we could work this hard in a margin of 2 days. We learnt from each other, front enders learnt how to analyze data, UI designer learnt how to design front end, it was indeed fun. What helped us was the 5 WHYs analysis, it made us understand the challenge properly. We wrote a project consisting of 5 chapters consisting of Introduction, Theoretical Review, Methodology, Data presentation and analysis, and Conclusion. We thought this wouldn't help us in the hackathon, but it really helped us understand the problem domain and properly refining our solutions.

This project has been submitted for consideration during the Judging process.
NASA produces a variety of surface solar and meteorological data parameters that are useful to commercial renewable energy and sustainable building ventures, but this information is not easily accessible to the typical homeowner. Your challenge is to develop a mobile application to access the information on NASA’s Prediction of Worldwide renewable Energy Resources (POWER) web services portal and provide useful information about sunshine to the general public.
