My name is Peter! I’m a member of the Space Apps Global Organizing Team. I’ll be your Event Local Lead for Space Apps 2021. I’ll be available from now until the end of the hackathon to answer your questions, connect you to resources, and help you find teammates. Find basic information to guide your Space Apps journey under the “General Information” tab (above). You can also check out the Participant FAQ and other guides (on the chat rooms, team formation, and project submission), once they are available. All guides will be posted on the Resource page.

CONNECT TO THE SPACE APPS COMMUNITY

During hackathon weekend, I will be organizing a few interactive virtual events for participants to engage in. Mark out time during your hacking to join in on the fun! For now, share your own journey with the Space Apps community! Use #SpaceApps on your social media platforms.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

1. Register now for the Space Apps Universal Event by selecting the "Register" button on the right side of the page.
   

2. Familiarize yourself with the Space Apps Resources. Start with the Participant FAQ .

3. Once you’ve registered, keep an eye out in your Space Apps inbox for messages from me, Peter, your Local Lead. (Login to your account, and select “My Account” in the menu bar. You’ll see a link to “Communications” on the right-hand side.) I will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

4. Log in the week prior to the hackathon to join the chat rooms and start forming teams. You will be able to form a team from members of any location or create a team with other members of the Universal Event (our chat rooms will have dedicated channels for Universal Event participants). More information on these items coming soon!

What will be the award for Space Apps 2021 winners?

Space Apps winners will be featured on the Space Apps website and social media, and they will receive an invitation to present their projects to NASA personnel (and space agency partners, if applicable).

If travel is deemed safe, the winners will also be invited to visit a NASA site with the Space Apps Global Organizing (GO) Team to view a spacecraft launch. Each member of each winning team and one guest each will be invited and will be responsible for covering their own costs for their personal travel, meals and incidental expenses, and accommodation expenses. Winners typically conduct fundraising activities to cover the costs of their trips.
