We're really excited to welcome everyone to our online event as part of the 10th Anniversary of this amazing global challenge. This is our fifth year supporting teams in taking part.
Each year is different, but always great fun!
Why take part
If you're reading this page, you probably already know the answer!
Just in case you're not sure, the NASA Space Apps Challenge is a unique opportunity to do something about some of the global (and interstellar) challenges facing us in the 21C and beyond.
You'll be part of a truly global community examining a set of challenges set by NASA and constructing your solutions over the weekend. You'll have access to an unprecedented range of data, services, and subject experts.
How to take part
If you are already in a team, fantastic!
If you're not already in a team, don't worry! We'll be helping folks to form teams at the start of the challenge event.
What you'll need
Curiosity and good problem solving skills.
You don't need to be a 'ninja' coder to take part.
The best solutions address a challenge question from a unique and interesting angle, using data to clearly understand the problem and deliver an answer. A clearly described proposal that captures the judges' interest is a winning one.
Part of the team formation time on Saturday will be to try and buddy up people so that teams have the skills they need to tackle their particular proposal.
Oh, and you should probably have a decent broadband connection, this is an online event after all.

Who are we
We are a small Bristol charity called DigiLocal. We support young people to develop the problem skills and resilience needed to work in technology roles.
We host online coding clubs for our young people with a range of industry volunteer mentors. You'll meet some of them over the weekend!
In addition to helping host online clubs, we have a lively laptop repurposing programme that securely wipes laptops from individuals and companies before configuring them with Ubuntu and distributing through a network of community charities to support young people's education.
We're also part of the wider tech community of local lead partners than include colleagues across the UK and overseas.
Our young people regularly reach the Global Judging round, our last successful entrant was 13 years old; so no pressure!
