Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Do I need to live in Chennai or be from the area to participate?

A: No, the challenge is all virtual, it does not matter from where you participate.

Q: How many people can be part of our team?

A: Typical Space Apps teams have 2-6 participants (the limit is 6 members per team). Space Apps Challenge is all about collaboration.

Q: What is the age limit to participate?

A: Space Apps welcomes participants of all ages. We do not set a minimum age for participation in Space Apps, and many youth and children have participated in past events. We only note that participants under 13 must have a parent or guardian register for them and must attend the entire event with them. Kids can participate for the Youth Challenge

Q: Do I need a team before registration?

A: Yes, If you do not already have a team you will get an opportunity to find one during the team matching phase, which will start 1 week before the Hackathon.

Q. What is “Virtual Bootcamp”?

A. Prior to hackathon weekend, please tune in to our website and social media accounts to access exclusive content from NASA, Local Leads, Space Apps
Ambassadors, previous Global Winners, and more. Guests will provide relevant workshops and tips for having a successful hackathon experience. This is a wonderful opportunity to tap into the broader Space Apps community. Subscribe to our YouTube channel and turn on notifications to be the first to see our Space Apps 2020-2021 Virtual Bootcamp.

Q. How do I find teammates?

A. We encourage you to invite your friends along or self-organize into teams before the event with the help of Chennai's Local Leads. We are also going to open Rocket Chat, the chat platform used by Space Apps, the week of September 25 (several days before the hackathon begins), so that you can find teammates in the chat rooms online. We will send you a message when the chat rooms open. Moreover, you will be able to request to join an existing team that is looking for new members! Detailed information about this process will be included in the Team Formation Guide, which will be posted on the Space Apps resources page Resources Page
