Hey everyone,
International Space Apps Challenge returns to Colombo in 2021. All Space Cadets are welcome for this amazing event and reserve the dates free!
What is Space Apps?
Space Apps is an international hackathon for coders, scientists, designers, researchers, and others who are passionately involved in finding solutions for global problems. This is the world largest international hackathon organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Now it is its 10th year and Space Apps 2021 is scheduled for October 2-3!! Considering the Covid 19 epidemic and your personal safety concerns, as well as last year this year’s hackathon will host an all-virtual. Participants will be offered to take part in the virtual Boot camp where they can attend the workshops and training to get an idea about the available resources.
We look forward to seeing teams bringing up new innovative ideas and win the title.
What is Space Apps Colombo?
Space Apps Colombo is proud to host its second local hackathon this year 2021 with the guidelines of NASA and the Space Apps Global organizing team. We are proud to say that last year we successfully completed this competition for the first time and two teams were selected as global nominees, who participated in the global event representing Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Space Apps gives an opportunity to local coders, scientists, designers, technologists, university undergraduates and students around the country to engage in NASA’s free and open data to address real-world problems on earth and in space. This competition gives the partakers the opportunity to bring projects to life with a wide range of applications. This provides a massive opportunity to Sri Lanka as a developing country to inspire their young generation in earth and space science exploration. And also, this is their chance to experience, experiment and explore solutions and improve their creativity and critical thinking while directly participating in a program organized by organizations like NASA.
Universities all around the country including the government and private universities both are participating and involved in organizing this event. Normally opportunities like this are very few for the Sri Lankan university students to gather and work together. Therefore, this is a priceless opportunity for them too.
