DEAR SCIENCE & SPACE ENTHUSIASTS IN MONTREAL
The NASA International Space Apps Challenge (or Space Apps) is an international hackathon that will take place over a 48-hour period virtually for cities around the globe between October 2nd and 3rd, 2021. This year marks the tenth annual NASA International Space Apps Challenge, the largest global hackathon on Earth! In honor of this event, the theme for Space Apps 2021 is “The Power of Ten.”
We are proud to announce that the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space - Canada (SEDS - Canada), and Space Concordia - are hosting this year’s Montreal NASA Space Apps Challenge. By participating in Space Apps 2021, you will have the chance to work with data gathered by NASA and partner space agencies like the Canadian Space Agency, and your team will get the chance to be nominated to compete internationally!
The event is open to all students in QC, professionals, researchers, science & space enthusiasts!

SPACE APPS 2021 KICKOFF CEREMONY
Space Apps 2021 Kickoff Ceremony featuring Chantelle Dubois and Marie-Josée Potvin

Chantelle Dubois is a Computer Engineer at the Canadian Space Agency, primarily in the role of Avionics and Software Systems Engineer for the Lunar Gateway Program, facilitating the delivery of Canadarm3. She additionally supports the Lunar Exploration Accelerator Program (LEAP), providing robotic software insight and support. During her undergraduate studies, Chantelle completed 3 summer internships at the Agency to work on the Lunar Exploration Analogue Deployment (LEAD), integrating software for a prototype rover used in field tests to investigate the concept of operations for a lunar sample collection mission.
Marie-Josée Potvin holds a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from Polytechnique Montréal, a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Queen's University and a doctorate in mechanical engineering from McGill University. She began her career at the Canadian Space Agency training astronauts to maneuver Canadarm2. Currently, Ms. Potvin oversees the development of young engineers at the Canadian Space Agency. She also promotes collaborations between industry and academia, particularly in the field of composite materials for use on the Moon.
