Welcome to the Space Apps Rome info page.
The event will be held on October 2-3, 2021 and it will be a 100% virtual event.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Everyone can take part in the competition, because every skill is useful in order to work on a project. Register to Space Apps if you are a space enthusiast, if you re an engineer (or you're studying in order to become one), if you have communication or marketing skills (you will have to convince the judges your idea is cool!) or if you're looking for a chance to test yourself.
If you don't have a team already: don't worry! We will help you and make sure you can find someone as passionate as you on the challenge you want your project to respond to.
We welcome participants from any location, but in order to be eligible for the local award at least one member of the team must be resident in Italy.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE

- Choose the challenge you want to address.
- Download and register in the Space Apps chat, in order to connect with other participants, with local leads, experts, etc. and above all in order to find your teammates -- (Coming Soon)

LOCAL JUDGING CRITERIA AND AWARDS
The US mission in Italy will award two prizes of 500€ each to the two best projects.
Lavoropiù as a partner of the event makes available for all participants in the event, a 7-hour webinar (scheduled for October 7, from 10: 30-13 / 14: 00-18: 00) aimed at the development and strengthening of soft skills useful for promoting the work placement of participants. More info here.
This year, the CNS renews its commitment for Space Apps with a 500€ prize by the name of "Il Futuro Prossimo Possibile". The Center for Near Space of the Italian Institute for the Future has always been active on research concerning humanity's expansion into space. The award will go to the team who, while answering to the Space Apps 2021 challenges, better pictures the Cis-Lunar City Vision.
Our Partner, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, offers 5 awards in relation to our local judging criteria:
- 200 €. Impact : How much impact (quality and quantity) can this project have? Does it solve a big problem or a little problem? Will it inspire or help many, or a few?
- 200 €. Creativity :How creative/innovative is the approach? Is the project novel and something that hasn’t been attempted before, or is it an incremental improvement on something that already exists?
- 200 €. Validity : Is the solution scientifically valid? Will it do what it sets out to do? Can it work in the real world?
- 200 €. Relevance : Is this project responsive to the challenge for which it was submitted? Is it a complete solution or does it have a long way to go? Is it technically feasible? How usable or user friendly is the solution?
- 200 €. Presentation : How well did the team communicate their project? Were they effective in telling the story of the project: the challenge, the solution, and why is it important?
The awards are shared between the Rome and Naples locations. Local winners are automatically excluded from these awards. The winners will be decided by the highest score in each criteria. In case of identical scores in one criteria, the team with the highest overall score will be awarded.
Our partner, Lazio Innova, will select up to three teams from the Rome location for ad-hoc technical and business fast tracks. The three teams will verify together with the partner that their business idea is feasible and valid and will possibly access preincubation lanes with the ESA Bic Lazio programme.
