Space Apps Rosman is proud to host its local hackathon for the third year in a row as a collaboration between Southwestern Community College and Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI). This will be an online event only.

PARI will provide space if a team needs a place to work. If your team is interested, please email r_neff@southwesterncc.edu

The hackathon embraces collaborative problem solving to produce relevant open-source solutions to advance space exploration missions and improve life on Earth. It is open to anyone in the world who has a passion for making a difference and is focused on developing real solutions to global challenges.

Schedule (All times US/Eastern)

Friday, October 1st
  1. Warm up with our Bootcamp!

This year's bootcamp will include a zoom introduction with breakout rooms for teams to get organized. In addition we will provide a curated set of instructional videos.

Get started planning your strategy, but the actual challenge does not begin until Saturday morning. Friday activities are optional. However, we will start introducing participants and forming teams Friday night. This will be done virtually.

This is a free event - there is no cost to registration.

Saturday, October 2nd
  1. The challenge begins!

Teams begin to work on the one challenge they have picked. Teams can be formed prior to the weekend, but support resources will not be available until Saturday morning. The challenges can be found here: https://2021.spaceappschallenge.org/challenges/. There is plenty of time to think about which one is most interesting to you and who you want on your team. Once you are registered, we will help you find teammates interested in the same challenge.

Sunday, October 3rd
  1. Time to Polish your Pitch!

We will have judges available to give you feedback on your challenge solution. However, judges will not score teams until Oct. 4th - after the final submission has been made.

The winning team members from our local challenge will win passes to spend a weekend at PARI and the team will advance to the Global Space Apps Competition.
