High-Level Project Summary
Pitch:Create immersive 3D renders of Trojan asteroids through cinematic shots, lighting, and atmosphere.I developed an immersive, realistic take on what outer space would would like. High contrast was important, so getting the lighting completely on point was needed. The challenge was to create Illuminated Asteroids, and I provided a solution to that problem using a 3D space (no pun intended). The purpose of 3D, for me, over 2D, is to capture that feeling that you are watching something actually in space.

Detailed Project Description
All models were made in Maya, texturing was mostly done in Maya using the 3D recourses provided by NASA. Some Substance Painter was used for the texturing of Lucy, to get the wing and body texture on. Lighting was also completely done in Maya, using Arnold shaders. After the render was completed, i then brought them into Adobe After Effects, where I color corrected, added effects, and composted the video.
Space Agency Data
Big time went into just the background of Lucy. When the idea started, when it will launch, and its 12 year journey to the asteroids.
To capture the essence and beauty of the asteroids, size and composition played alot into the final outcome. Looking up known asteroids, and their measurements, and how it would stack up against Lucy. For the purpose of keeping the importance for Lucy, I did have to exaggerate the size of her.

Hackathon Journey
This is an absolute fun time. I learned about the past, current, and future of NASA, and I continue to educate myself. I did do this project entirely solo by choice. Next time I will be apart of a time.
