Blockspace - A interactive experience

High-Level Project Summary

We developed a map in Minecraft that simulates an exhibition where the visitor can interact in a playful way with Mission Lucy scenarios, emphasizing its importance and providing a complete experience through audiovisual resources. Our project can help streamline Mission Lucy data to the lay audience by creatively communicating, inspiring and informing.

Detailed Project Description

Our project aims to inform, communicate and inspire the general public using Minecraft as a simulator for an exhibition about the Lucy Mission. Entering our Minecraft map, you can learn more about the Lucy mission by walking through different scenarios and listening to audio explanatory recorded by us. The main benefit of the project is to simplify the subject of the Lucy mission in an interactive and playful way, inspired by online museums. The tool used was the Minecraft game.

Hackathon Journey

Our experience with this hackathon was incredible, it was our first participation in such an event and we can say that we have learned a lot through our experiences and contact with mentors. Some things we learned: Design Thinking for problem solving, how to make a Pitch and a Pitch Deck, time organization, group work experiences, among other learnings.

We chose the Artfully Illuminated Asteroids challenge for two main reasons: because it's the recommended challenge for young people, and because of the creative freedom it allows. We approached this challenge by thinking about how our project could help people better understand scientific issues and then we built the project around that. Along the way, ideas emerged to solve this problem by adopting interactive and playful features using Minecraft as a tool.

During the process, we make mistakes and get lost a few times. To solve this, we used two main solutions: talking about the problem and understanding how to overcome it, and talking to the mentors, who helped us with their knowledge and experience. For this reason, we would like to thank the mentors for teaching us some of their vast knowledge and for their help, which guided us and taught us valuable lessons.
