High-Level Project Summary
We developed a documentary to explain Lucy’s mission and to encourage people to learn more about asteroids by sharing our stories. We believe this project is important because it allows people, especially women, to believe they are capable of participating in such projects, just as we did. We believe that, given the opportunity, most people would like to participate and engage in science and space projects and challenges.

Detailed Project Description
At the beginning of the video, we start informing people about Lucy’s fossil and the Lucy's mission telling why it is so important. Then, each of the participants talk a little about their stories related to asteroids and astronomy and also about one of the asteroids that Lucy is going to visit, about its characteristics and about how we can relate with them.
Space Agency Data
We used videos and images made available by NASA for some parts of the documentary, mainly in the introduction when the historical context is explained, as we use these media in the part of the documentary that describes the details of the mission. The other videos and images are all authored by all of the team as the song, created by one of the members, Laysa.
Hackathon Journey
We decided on this project because our entire team participated in the 2021 IASC and therefore we already have some experience talking about asteroids. Our group is composed mostly of women and one AFAB (assigned female at birth) non-binary person, and we all agreed that we wanted to inspire people, especially women, to be involved in challenges and events related to space and astronomy. We set up many meetings in the week before the challenge to decide on the approach of the video, and the chosen form was a documentary. We had people with experience in editing and captioning videos, and also with music and art. Some of the people in the group even went to an observatory in Belo Horizonte on Saturday to collect video and image material for our documentary. We want people to know that there are opportunities to participate and to learn, and also we want to open up more opportunities for everyone to experience how it’s like to make a difference in the world. I believe my whole team agrees that we have to thank Lorrane for being the one to bring us forward. Lorrane is the creator of the InSpace Group and with that initiative, all of us had the opportunity to participate in events like the IASC (International Asteroid Search Campaign), OAB (Brazilian Astronomy Olympiads), OBSAT (Brazilian Sattelites Olympiads) and many others. Thank you, Lorrane!
Ana: The journey with the hackathon was a challenge for me, I did something I have never done before, I used my creativity in a completely new way. We had the opportunity to use the UFMG Observatory as a set and it was amazing. The creativity, union and effort of the team made everything fluid and we can see that in the result.
Dalila: The week before the challenge was very difficult for me. We had many meetings to decide how we were going to approach the challenge, and most of these days I was facing depression and severe anxiety. There were days that I wasn’t sure that I would be able to help my team at all. But there’s a similarity that I have with the asteroid I talked about: neither I nor Patroclus is alone. I have amazing support among my friends and family, and it was only because of this support I was able to record my video and to help with this Project Page and the Project Demo. I am so thankful for this journey because it showed me again that I’m not alone, and that I can ask for help and work as a team, and I’m not a weak person for needing help.
Laritrix: Going into that Hackathon was like embarking on a cosmic mission of the universe! The experience of sharing knowledge and learning with other women who do and disseminate science as I was sensational, and I really loved being a part of that by studying the Lucy Mission and the importance that performing Asteroid research has in our contemporary society! For a long time, I imagined being alone in this universe, but today, thanks to Hackathon, I know that discovering and researching asteroids goes beyond just one more NASA space mission, it’s about knowledge, art, culture, togetherness and SCIENCE. Unforgettable!
Laysa: I really appreciated the ideas of all group members, it was fun to exchange ideas between us. It was complicated to send the outline and resources beforehand because the week was busy, but everyone really made an effort and I loved to see it. It was amazing to work with this group.
Lorrane: This project made me change from fury to love in milliseconds and feel all kinds of emotions. All I could think about this weekend was "asteroids, asteroids, asteroids".
Maria: IT WAS REALLY COOL! Our union was very harmonious and I’m looking forward to the next challenge, as hard as it was and fast, I loved participating in this hackethon with the girls!
