High-Level Project Summary
What if we told you that NASA is going to send a spacecraft into space for possibly millions of years? Well, we're not kidding. NASA is going to send a spacecraft called Lucy to the Trojan asteroids. The Trojan asteroids are asteroids that go behind and front of Jupiter. There are 8 trojan asteroids. They are called Patroclus, Leucus, DonaldJohansen, Orus, Polymele, Menoetius, and Eurybates. What we did was created a fun illustration that pops. These illustrations follow Lucy on her journey to the Trojan asteroids. But we put our own spin on these illustrations. We made it so Lucy is a cat! This way, not just older viewers can enjoy our drawings, but younger viewers can also enjoy our art.

Detailed Project Description
This project focuses on Lucy, and what she will discover on her two year journey orbiting the Trojan asteroids 6 times. This is where the creativity comes in. Our task is to draw what we think Lucy will discover in space.
About Lucy and her assistant:
Lucy and her assistant resemble a cat and have body parts of a cat. Lucy’s bow scans what is what and if it is worth studying. The middle of her bow is a satellite dish. Her claws are big and flexible. The middle of her paws find out what the object they are studying is composed of. Lucy takes pictures with her double ringed camera eyes and prints out images that she took with her printer mouth. Lucy can sniff out what gases things are composed of. Lucy’s assistant, Noor, has whiskers that sense if there is trash nearby and collects them on the way.

What tools, coding languages, hardware, or software did you use to develop your project?
We searched online for additional images to help add to our video. Also, we used our drawing tools at home to draw our pictures. [credit for moms for taking the pictures] Markers, crayons, colored pencils, and sharpies are on our tool list.
How does it work? What Benefits does it have?
It transitions between slide to slide and is a video you can watch. It has popping music that add extra effects to the video. It was quite simple to make; There were already examples and templates waiting for us which we could customize; changing fonts, the time each slide runs, etc.
What do you hope to achieve?
We hope to achieve new information and keep learning everyday.
Space Agency Data
The NASA data was used in our project as evidence to back up our observations
Hackathon Journey
What inspired us to create this project?
What inspired us to create this project is that a lot of people don't know about the interesting things that are going on in space! We did extensive research to learn as much as possible about asteroids. We also were currently participating in Science Olympiad Division A, Astronomy and just happened to bump into this awesome challenge.
What did we create?
We created an illustration which shows the Trojan asteroids in detail. The (cat) Lucy spacecraft is also depicted in our illustration.
What setbacks and challenges did we go through and how did we resolve them?
We had many challenges throughout our whole Space Apps experience. First of all, we each had our own unique schedules. This limited our in-person time and had to go online, which was extremely challenging due to many, many technical difficulties. Second of all, this whole competition was unexpected, so we had limited time. But, due to hard work and perseverance, we made it through each and every roadblock and was able to submit by the deadline!
Special Thanks to:
Alyna's really really cute kitties (Muezza and Noor)
They inspired our kitty landscape in space!
