Epic Quest

High-Level Project Summary

The most important aspect of our project is it is a tribute to all NASA PEOPLE and everyone who believes in science and Works for science on our planet. We want to remind everyone that sees our project that scientific progress is not finished yet. Today many people in the Street consider science is a regular and ordinary thing that some nerds have fun with and spend a lot of Money on unnecesary things. Which is a big misunderstandment. Our project reflects that science is an ongoing process and we can never stop.

Detailed Project Description

·        First, we used our ceramics workshop to sculpt tablets that we used as a foundation.

·        Then we decided to start from Big Bang. To make the Big Bang we made the explosion. We created wave like shapes to imply that universe is expanding. We decided it would be a good idea to roll the earth over the waves.

·        After we were pleased with how Big Bang turned out we started making the asteroid. We used special tools and our fingers to sculpt the perfect shape.

·         We liked the idea of putting Lucy’s bones on our project, so we did.

·         We put Göbeklitepe on our project to symbolize how far people had come since paleozoic times.

·         We thought about what else we could put on our project, an apple tree that symbolizes Newton came to mind. We made the tree trunk and added details. We made the leaves one by one by hand

·         We put the Trojan Horse on our project because horses symbolize novelty and strength. Another reason we put the Trojan Horse on our project is because Lucy is researching Trojan asteroids. We put wood pieces in the horse to keep it from falling over.

·        We wanted to put one of the biggest mysteries alive today, the pyramid.

·        We added to lenses to symbolize a telescope.

·        We were impressed by the motivation of the character Achilles. We wanted to put him on our project. We took inspiration from lots of different paintings and sculptures.

·        We also added Lucy’s solar panels.

·        We took our videos and put them all together. We used Bandlab to make our original music for our final project video.

Hackathon Journey

Our Space Apps Challenge experience was great. We did things that we have never done before in just two days!

First, we learned a lot of new things about Big Bang, the first ages of the world, evolution, first humans (Lucy), Göbeklitepe, Newton's Gravity Law, Egyptian Pyramids, Trojan War while designing our project.

Second, we explored our features that we have never realized. We learned that we can do art and we are talented at making projects with clay even though we have never done anything with clay.

Then, we have learned that science and art can be together, fantastic projects can be made when art and science are together. And we used this knowledge in our project.

Next, we learned how to resolve challenges. We learned we can make a project with clay in just two days with working hard. Yes, time limit was a huge challenge for us, but we overcame it with working for a lot of hours.

Finally, we had a lot of fun while working. Researching, making our project, connecting science and art, and even working for hours

was super fun.

We would like to thank Space Apps Challenge Committee for this wonderful experience.
