High-Level Project Summary
The Joys of Outer space is an AR (Augmented Reality) book that solves the problem of children not wanting to read books or read about space. This is important because it will bring children to increased knowledge about the universe and will increase their comprehension skills when it comes to learning. By combining the technology of something they use often (smart phone) with a book, this will peak their interest and keep them engaged in learning. Not only that, but it will inspire them to develop "smart" education as well.

Detailed Project Description
The Joys Of Outer Space ebook is a "smart book" that combines Augmented Reality with book reading. Augmented Reality is the ability for your smart phone to show virtual reality into your current reality through the use of your camera feature and a detection of a programable identifiable object or a surface. Readers of this book will notice a QR code image on various pages of the book, and with the use of their smart phone, they can scan each QR code and they will be taken to the "virtual playground" that will display either a 3D image or video that relates to the page of the book.
The benefits of this project is that it's primary focus is to educate readers about space, engage them to open a book AND get engaged with technology while also challenging readers to think outside of the box when it comes to learning about Space.
As the generation gets "smarter", this book is showing readers that books can get "smarter" by using smart phones to scan their pages and see that technology, space and technology combined can truly be "out of this world"
Many tools were used to create this project, including but not limited to html5, Php, Canva, Adobe editing software and animation software.
Space Agency Data

was used for a reference image in the book to show readers what the spacecraft looks like

was used to gather facts about the Lucy Study.
This was used to inspire readers to see that space is actually really cool.
Hackathon Journey
The journey was not easy, creating a project in a short period of time however it showed that anything is possible when you put your mind to it. And although the book is not fully completed, it is enough for a submission. Perfection is not necessary to complete the task.
Approach: just get it done.
Setbacks: settle for not having perfection
