Lucy: What's beyond?

High-Level Project Summary

Modern man and his knowledge about space exploration are limited. He must know about space exploration and its benefit to him. Our project goal is to spark an interest among the general public to pursue and learn more about Lucy and her journey to the Trojan asteroids. We developed a project in which we will post related matters on social media and try to gain the attention of the public. Our challenge was to illustrate Lucy's path and the diversity she will foresee, in which we took one step ahead by sharing it with the general public. Taking the usual percentage of the public attention about this matter we hope to bloom an interest in the viewers' mind.

Detailed Project Description

This project is to raise awareness among the public about space exploration. Lucy's mission is very important as it is the first mission to venture into the Trojan asteroids in hopes of studying about it and learning more about the evolution of the solar system. Our project is done in order to inspire the general public to seek out more knowledge about astronomy and space. This will help the space exploration industry to improve as more and more space enthusiasts are born.

We could make a youtube channel, separate Facebook page, Instagram page, etc. to spread information about space-related matter. Upload videos, information sheets and even host some sessions. For now, we have made a video explaining about Lucy's adventures and hope to spark an interest in the viewer.

We used video editing websites such as Canva, Clipchamp to create our submission. NASA resources were also a great help for us to find necessary information about the Lucy Mission.

NASA's valuable data about the Lucy mission was highly beneficial to us.
Some images we came across were very inspiring.
We included 3D models given by NASA in our project.

Hackathon Journey

This year's Space Apps journey was one of the most fun-filled activities we took part in this entire year. We learned a lot about Lucy's mission and how it benefits us and the space exploration industry.

We chose this challenge because we are very curious about space exploration and especially about Lucy and her mission. It was the very best choice considering our knowledge about this matter. We wanted to do something creative yet challenging and inspiring. Through a lot of challenges, we finally managed to submit something 'presentable'. It tended to get rather hair-raising when one of us got sick, both had network issues that lasted for hours and most chillingly, having to do it online due to the prevailing pandemic.

Yet, we did it! We loved how we were able to accomplish this with major teamwork and collaboration. We couldn't have done this without our parents who were there to help us during our network issues, meltdowns and traumas of not being able to finish this on time.
