CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION:

It is 2021. If we look back to a year ago. We were living a normal and happy life with the regular schedule. Children were attending their school happily; people were doing jobs and businesses with their own way. But now the COVID-19 pandemic has altered people’s lives in both enormous and small ways.

COVID-19 is the deadliest virus in the history. According to COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, over 4.7 million people already died due to this deadliest virus. Many people lost their earning source due to the massive economic disaster. Students are facing monotonous online classes and cannot go to school.

According to NASA Earth Observing Data, till September 29, 2021 around 16.7 million people are fully vaccinated in Bangladesh whereas total population of Bangladesh is around 170 million. And according to NASA Earth Data of Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center, in Bangladesh around 1.5 million cases were found and approximately total 27 thousand people died due to COVID-19.

People are not sincere enough despite of the high mortality rate of corona virus. They are not realizing the seriousness of this situation. They roam around without mask and do not maintain social distancing. Many people are not interested to take vaccines.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

If we want to aware people, they should know how much life risk they have in their current location. They should also know the people around them are vaccinated or not and the detail statistics of vaccinated people around the world.

So, we are introducing our project- CovRisk Tracker.

In this app, a user will register by using National ID Card. From the National ID Card Number, the app will collect his name, age and his vaccination status from local database which will be stored in a central database of this app. After successfully logged into this app, the app will collect the location of the user.

We have mainly three features- Global vaccination status tracker, Vaccinated people tracker and Global risk zone tracker.

In global vaccination status tracker feature, the app will collect data from NASA Earth Data of Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center to show the statistics and details of vaccinated people all over the world according to countries.

In vaccinated people tracker feature, user will be able to check the vaccination status of the people around him within 50-meter radius circle who uses this app. This app will create a 50-meter radius circle zone and match people around him using other people’s location in real time and track the vaccination status from the central database and show that accordingly in the map.

In Global Risk Zone tracker feature, the app will collect data from COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Through this data a visualization of risk probability will be shown based on different countries by analyzing the recent cases and death due to COVID-19. If the user is in high-risk zone, he will receive push notification every hour to wear mask, wash hands and maintain social distancing.

IMPACT:

As the covid-19 pandemic is not leaving so quickly. Moreover, different types of fatal variants are spreading, and the vaccination process is taking so long, our project has a long-term impact to calculate the risk and raise awareness among the people to stay safe. It will help people to maintain social distancing. It will also help them to realize the seriousness of this pandemic and encourage them to take vaccine as soon as possible.

Due to lack of time, the whole project couldn't be completed. API authentication using Django rest Framework(DRF) has been done.

• [COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU)]: From this data, recent COVID-19 cases and death cases can be analyzed to predict global risk zone.

• [NASA Earth Data of Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center]: From this data, ratio of population vs COVID-19 cases and population vs COVID-19 death cases can be analyzed according to countries.

• [NASA Earth Observing Dashboard]: Vaccination status according to countries, the number of daily vaccine dose and the number of fully vaccinated people can be analyzed from these data.

This hackathon inspired us to make new innoviation and develop a solution of a problem. Each and every person of our team worked with dedication and approached to solve the problem. It was an amazing journey. As everyone is living in a pandemic situation, NASA Space Apps Challenge erased the monotony of life. Brainstorming ideas and boot-camp sessions were amazing. Had opportunity to know about several new topics and new open source datasets of NASA.
