COVID-19 Calculate the Risk

High-Level Project Summary

Covid 19 Calculate the Risk is a mobile app that allows everyone to stay updated with their surroundings during this pandemic. This app uses real-time data to display the numbers of recent Covid cases and using the map, it displays areas at risk of being susceptible to the virus. Moreover, the app allows users to be aware of the different vaccines, know the risk of climate change in the spread of the virus, and how different countries were successful in beating Covid and the steps taken to achieve it.

Detailed Project Description

The Covid 19 Calculate the Risk app uses real-time data, and as a mobile app, the user will have easy access to it and will be able to check on the go. Our app is built using react native and the coding language is JavaScript. The user will be informed of their surrounding area or the place of visit and check to risk prediction before leaving. The real-time data showcasing the number of Covid cases is implemented using an API. With the help of Google Maps and data collected the risk areas are displayed. With information traveling around the world at a high rate, it is difficult to be sure if the information is accurate. Now during the pandemic to get the wrong information about the Vaccine can cause great harm to someone in the long run. The progress in medicines use approved and accurate data provided by WHO. Coronaviruses (CoV) are an outsized family of viruses, with different variants being still discovered. The spreading of the virus is related to climate change. The app will allow users to know the risk of climate change in the spread of the virus and using that the user can plan their events. For environmental effects, data were collected from Harvard and others. Many countries with the cooperation of their citizens were successful at winning the fight against coronavirus and are Covid free. The app displays the steps taken by the country and its people in detail, so users can also contribute. For the policies, the data was collected from WHO and other verified websites. The main aim is for the user to not feel overwhelmed by the information and protocols and having to go through different websites. Our team has collected accurate and real-time data to make sure the user can access it all in one and have quick access to it. We did not want to create an app that is perplexing for the user, so anyone can use it with just a simple tap.

Hackathon Journey

The hackathon has given us a platform to present our solution and helped us to gain new experiences through the process. We learned how to create an app by using React Native and JavaScript. Furthermore, we have faced many setbacks throughout the project such as app crashes, errors, and failure of showcasing data properly. To solve those setbacks we used guidance from different sources. Coronavirus has turned into a preeminent issue as individuals are not absolutely mindful and cognizant about Coronavirus around the globe. Therefore we planned to collect all data related to covid and present them in one app, thus increasing their chance to be properly aware of the pandemic.
