Covid-19 risk tracking

High-Level Project Summary

Our team used Justinmind to create a mobile phone prototype that provides users with an understanding of the risk of viruses in their current physical location, uses open-source data to analyse the location of cases, and reminds users how many cases are within a certain kilometre nearby and the number of people who have been vaccinated. And the number of people who have not been vaccinated in the area. If more than a certain percentage of people in the area have not been vaccinated, the user will be reminded to reduce going to the area.

Detailed Project Description

The main function of the application created by our team is to provide users with knowledge of the epidemic situation in their location. If it is a high-risk area, the system will always remind you to wear a mask and maintain social distance. The principle of this function is to use the global positioning system in the user’s mobile phone. When the user starts the application, it will be located. When the positioning is successful, NASA will provide you with real-time data to analyze whether the user is in a high-risk area. At the same time, the system In the background, the local vaccine coverage data will be used to analyze whether most people have been vaccinated in the user's location. If less than 65% of the people have been vaccinated, it will also show that the area is a high-risk area. The advantage of this application is that it can use real-time data. Users can know the surrounding conditions at any time. If they are in a high-risk area, they can take corresponding measures such as wearing a mask or leaving the area. Our team hopes that this application can allow more people to reduce the risk of covid-19 infection

Space Agency Data

My team imported the data and charts in CDC COVID Data Tracker into our application, so that users can better understand the current number of COVID-19 Vaccinations.

At the same time, we will also import the visualization data of https://earthdata.nasa.gov/learn/articles/sedac-covid-19-viewer to help analyze where there are cases, and calculate the risk value in real-time so that users can Get the latest data.

Hackathon Journey

This is the first time our team has participated in NASA activities. We come from different industries, In this activity, we learned how to make a mobile application prototype and communicate with the team. The difficulty we face is that we are all in different cities, so communication has become very difficult, but we have also communicated many times in many meetings. In the end, this project was successfully completed. I want to thank my teammate for taking the time to form a team with me for the report. At the same time, I would like to thank NASA for holding this event for me to have a chance to learn more about application development. We also used Justinmind to make the prototype of this application.
