Covidout

High-Level Project Summary

We will create a car parking sensor system, which is based on measuring the distance based on the data received from the ultrasonic sensor between the car and the body behind it, and alerting the driver to the exact safe distance in the event of reversing. The Arduino controller senses nearby objects, using the Ultrasonic sensor to calculate the distance between the sensor and the object, and whenever the sensor gets close to an object, the Arduino will emit an audible alert or a flash of light indicating the approach and the possibility of collision.

Detailed Project Description

An abundance of open-source COVID-related research findings is available online. But many of these studies are inconclusive and require more data to be collected and analyzed. Many informative open-source web portals and dashboards provide real-time snapshots of COVID-19 case rates and mortality and some also display potentially associated environmental variables. This challenge is an attempt to consolidate open-source COVID-related information from multiple sources and integrate it in a quantified, computational framework that provides individualized risk warnings, taking into account physical location, weather/climate conditions, as well as social behavior.

Space Agency Data

At the click of a button, users of the COVID-19 Viewer can receive global information compiled by the Johns Hopkins University & Medicine Coronavirus Resource Center about the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, the number of people who have recovered from COVID-19, and the number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 for specific countries and, where available, sub-national areas (such as states or provinces). Users also can generate separate population estimates for defined areas of interest. The population data are for the year 2010, with estimates to 2020, and are derived from global census data and population registers.

Demographic data in the Viewer are from SEDAC’s GPW Basic Demographic Characteristics dataset. When a circle or polygon is drawn, a box showing demographic data by age or by sex for the selected area appears. A buffer tool is available to generate population estimates and charts.

Hackathon Journey

It was such a great experience. I was hoping to find a team but working alone sometimes works!
