Error 404 - COVID-19: CALCULATE THE RISK

High-Level Project Summary

Using open-source environmental data to distinguish between environmental parameters such as temperature and pollution level, we developed a Covid-19 information mobile application to provide users with personalized, geolocated information about active cases, total cases, and recoveries. Based on this data, we recommend the type of mask that the user should employ. By indicating potential lockdowns, we raise awareness in the administrative region. Our app's goal is to help people with social awareness, responsiveness, and health security.

Detailed Project Description

Our application provides users with the following information:

  • Covid Cases in the user’s state: The covid cases are fetched using COVID-19 Government API.
  • Temperature: The temperature information is retrieved using API
  • Air Quality: The temperature information is retrieved using API
  • Covid guidelines about precaution, travel, self-care, and mask recommendation: This feature is community guided hence it depends on user input.
  • Community-guided lockdown enforcement and self-assessment: This feature is a community guided hence it depends on user input.

When hope to educate users about covid guidelines, raise social awareness, responsiveness, teach self-care in case of covid symptoms and health security.

We used the following tools to help us create the application:

  • IDE - VS Code and Android Studio
  • Coding Language - Dart and Flutter
  • UI Design – Figma
  • Android Simulator
  • Text Editing and Presentation Software – Word, Canva, and Powerpoint presentation.

Space Agency Data

The 10 space apps are a great way to integrate data into the application. For our project, we took inspiration from EO Dashboard for the map in the risk information section. From COVID Data Tracker CDC we understood how we can represent our data. Through CSA we studied different COVID-19 variants.

Hackathon Journey

Hi everyone, we are a team of 3 B. Tech students in their 2nd year. We completed our exams on Friday and had planned this hackathon weekend for fun. In these 2 days we worked on "COVID-19: Calculate the Risk". We used Flutter for developing the app. This has been a very long and tiring weekend for us, however, we enjoyed ourselves a lot. Late-night screen shares for this virtual event and early morning debugging have improved our knowledge in APIs and Flutter. With so many masks available on the internet and teenagers of our age wearing them just for show/fashion, we actually wanted to know which mask one should wear during difficult times like these, so we ended up making this app for ourselves and we would like to thank NASA Space App Challenge to provide us with a platform to do so and help connect with great people like Mr. Reese Ingraham.
