PANDEMIX - A mobile GUI solution to alert you to the risk of Covid-19 and other pandemics

High-Level Project Summary

Covid-19 pandemic changed everyone's life around the world. After a long period of suffering and uncertainty, the world is now closer to a more calm and structured time. But how safe is it really to get back to "normal"? Pandemix is a geolocated responses app related not only to the covid-19 but any other future pandemic, based on a compiled quali-quanti data approach, considering environmental, geographical and social data found on different databases, allowing users to gradually return to their normal social lives after this pandemic period. Pandemix is also integrated with many of the main social networks in order to promote users to spread information to their connected communities.

Detailed Project Description

How We Developed This Project:

Pandemix propose to calculate the covid-19 risk, throughout an intuitive app, based on a quali-quanti method; The application seeks to provide the necessary information to local citizens who will make their own conscious decision regarding going to or being in a certain place; The app functionalities are built necessarily using public data, provided by governmental sources and research institutions, in order to deliver the best response possible for a specific local situation;

Using many available environmental data, such as Temperature, Relative or Specific Humidity, Winds, Pressure, Pollution PM2.5, Solar Radiation/UV etc.); social data, such as quality of life, medical and sanitary conditions, and population from the user's current location; public health data provided by government programs and agencies; geographical data collected from the user's GPS and geolocation; and social network connection. Most of those data have been adequate and eligible based on some criteria we established considering data's accessibility and completeness, leading us to collect some provided data from resources such as NASA, Havard and Google.

With this established database, Pandemix crosses those data to provide to its users how safe and what necessary precautions they need to take in their current location, explaining the risks considering crowding, classifying into different risks levels from Very Low Risk to Very High Risk, and advise to which mask is the most appropriate to use. Envisioning a more practical approach to the users, no login is needed and only their CPF is required to access the App, just to answer optional surveys.

We used this data to understand the problem and then to cross this information with our app, to be able to give specific geolocated information

Hackathon Journey

Our team chose this challenge because of the hard period the society went through in 2020. The Covid-19 showed the world how unprepered we are for a pandemic, such as we want to help the society in case of another pandemic happens in the next years. The oporttunity to help our sociaty in case we need again would make us very happy and proud. This space app experience taught us to be more creative, persistent and to belive in our ideas and capacity.
