CovTracker

High-Level Project Summary

We developed an app that can be used easily and efficiently that shows both geo-located data to you on how many cases there are in your country, and also displays news from both around the world and more local to you concerning COVID-19. We hope that this prototype is an indicator of what could be made if given the resources and time, to try to keep the public safe from the further spread of COVID-19 without it being too much of a hassle for them.

Detailed Project Description

We used React Native to build a full prototype application that runs on mobile devices - both android and IOS - and used open sourced data provided through the Earth Observing dashboard, as well as open-source data such as pomber's covid-19 case data, and the NewsAPI's free API service to get relevant news relating to COVID-19 to keep users of the application aware of what is happening both locally and globally.

Space Agency Data

We used the Earth Observing Dashboard to see how much the spread of COVID has increased recently.

Hackathon Journey

We have thoroughly enjoyed the NASA Space App challenge 2021!

We learned why teamwork was very important during this challenge.

We were inspired to choos this challenge as we all wanted to create something that would help others who would benefit hugely from this project.

Our approach was to develop an app that would be easy to use and understand, and not take lots of time to find what you are looking for, so we kept everything compact in design.
