Global Nominee

Country and Time Specific Covid Data Reporting, Matching and Visualization

High-Level Project Summary

Humongous volume of Covid 19 data collected across the globe forms a huge repository of information that is difficult for a normal user to perceive and visualize. Appropriate selective reporting and visualization of these data is of utmost importance for various real-life applications of these data. To address this issue, we have designed a website that reports covid 19 cases, deaths and recoveries in a selected set of countries over a user specified period of time. The reported data is collected from a widely used dataset hosted in Johns Hopkins University. The data is reported in graphical form as well for better visualization and comparison.

Detailed Project Description

  • The project is created for comparative analysis on Covid-19 data on two or more countries on a specific date or between two different dates.
  • It was created using Basic API service which is free with rate limit and it provides country-wise total cases, new cases, total deaths, new deaths, total recoveries and new recoveries.

Space Agency Data

The reported data is collected from a widely used dataset hosted in Johns Hopkins University. The data is hosted in Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University. The data is available for others through API calls on a web server. Upon API calls, the web server delivers the requested data in JSON (Javascript Object Notation) format.

Hackathon Journey

Well it was a learning experience for the whole team and we hope to participate in the next year's challenges too with more vigour and zeal.
