High-Level Project Summary
Hi,I am Sayantan Patra (Leader of ShielD)I worked on this android application, to spread awareness and the daily cases and deaths. Among the other challenges, I accepted this Covid challenge because , Covid being an global threat people need to aware of their surrounding and safe.My application named ShielD, shows data about the rate of containment of Covid-19 virus of each and every countries along with their total population. The data gets updated every ten minutes, which is very useful and the user can get more aware of the spreading of the virus, unlike the government servers which take a day or two to show daily cases and awareness...​Through the data given by my application.Thanks

Detailed Project Description
ShielD application shows the daily cases, recovered and deaths, which would help the user the user to calculate the risk and take precutions about the global problem
- ShielD is coded in Google's Android Studio
- Coding languages used :-
- Java
- Kotlin
- XML (extensible markup language)
- ShielD works in a wide range android OS (android version 6.0+)
- It provides an amazing Materialistic view, and amazing look and feel
- It adapts itself to both light and dark mode. (PEACE TO EYES 😌)
- Contains Data of 224 countries in the world.
- The data gets updated every 10mins.
Space Agency Data
Space agency data such as JHU COVID-19 Dashboard—Center for systems science and engineering at JHU is the inspiration for my application. I got the idea of my application through this data. Its the base of my application and has been a great help for me!

Hackathon Journey
Building the Application ShielD was a very interesting and enjoyable journey for me as I was able to learn a lot new things about Android Applications and it boosted my confidence to the next level. Now I am confident to build any types applications. I would like to get more oppurtunities on this topic. In future I will keep on developing ShielD such that where it not only shows data, but also takes data.
It's been an adventurous journey to build ShielD, and I am really thankful to the NASA SPACE APP team to give me such an special opportunity.
