High-Level Project Summary

Our group had developed an app called 'WeCare" which included features such as Covid-19 Risk Calculator social distancing detector which help to practice social distancing in daily life and more features during Space App Challenge. It has helped a lot for the aim of our project by determining the confirmed cases about the certain area. Besides, the risk calculator to estimate the possibility of infecting covid-19 disease and find effective safety measures for customizable situations. It is very important to carry out the process of this project

Detailed Project Description

Problem Statement

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, everyone has been worried about their health at all times. Due to the lacking of knowledge about Covid-19, they were not aware of there are how many confirmed cases in their house area. Other than that, people who are not responsible tend to ignore the SOP that is restricted by the government. For instance, they do not practice social distancing in their daily life which will cause them to get infected easily. Besides that, the public also facing the problem where they do not know where they can purchase the certified covid-19 essential such as mask and self-test kit.

Solution

Our team has come out with an idea called, 'WeCare.' 'WeCare' is a mobile application that contains features such as Covid-19 Risk Calculator, social distancing detector and more features.

Covid-19 Risk Calculator

Covid-19 Risk Calculator is a tool which can help the user to estimate the possibility of them getting infected by covid-19 disease. The user need to input their information about their situation. The calculation will be conducted and the score of the user will be shown in the app after they submit their information.The user can refer to the risk indicator which provided by us to determine their risk. The higher the score ,the higher the risk of the user getting infected by Covid-19.

Social Distancing Detector

By creating the detector , it can help the public to practice social distancing in their daily life. When the user press the on button, the detector will function and it will make sound to alert the user when the user is too close to other people.For instance, if the distance between two persons is over 1 meter which means that you are in safer conditions. If the distance is less than one meter, there will be an alerting sound ‘BEEP-BEEP’ which means you are in an unsafe condition and need to leave immediately to prevent infecting by Covid-19 disease.

Covid-19 Essentials

We also have created a session for user who need to buy the covid-19 essentials. When the user click the ‘Covid-19 Essentials’ button it link to an official website which sell covid-19 essentials such as certified face mask and self- test kit to prevent the user being tricked by profiteers. Not only that , in order to encourage public to getting vaccinated , we have created a session for the user. The user can search information about the vaccine and their side effect. We also have created a call button for the user to make a vaccination appointment .

Covid-19 Case Statistic

We also have created a session to show the daily confirmed cases of covid19 and data about vaccination. This will help to enhance awareness among the public to always stay safe. This session will be updated daily after the system has been updated.

Your Location

The app can detect your house adress when the user press the 'My Location' button in the app. Thus, you can receive the latest update of the condition of your surroundings. The app will also show the condition of the user house area by using the colour such as red colour as red zone , yellow collour as yellowe zone and green colour as green zone. This will help to alert the user to be more careful while going out from the house.

Weather Information

The app also can determine the weather condition of your town. The weather of the day will be shown in the form of a picture. Not only that, when the user presses the temperature shown in the app, it will be linked to a website where the user can check the weather of the day specifically.

Future Plan

Through this app, we can enhance the awareness of the people about the covid-19 cases of the surroundings. Besides, we hope that this app can encourage more people to get vaccinated to boost up their immune systems. Apart from that, it can reduce the possibility of people in Malaysia from infecting covid-19 disease through the information given in the app and the confirmed cases of the covid-19 disease can be reduced.

In the future, we would like to have our project widespread to the international level and appears as a global project from the perspective of public view.

Research

The US media "Bloomberg" announced the latest global anti-epidemic rankings on Wednesday (28th). The top-ranking is Norway, while the United States dropped from first place last month to fifth place. As for Malaysia, the ranking dropped one place from 51st last month and ranked 52nd, which is the closest to the bottom. The 53rd place at the bottom is Indonesia.

According to the latest "Covid Resilience Ranking" published by Bloomberg at the end of each month, 53 economies with a scale of more than 200 billion U.S. dollars were scored against the epidemic. The scoring items include vaccination rate and severity of lockdown. , Flight capacity, and travel routes for passengers who are open for vaccination.

Hackathon Journey

I would say that my Space Apps Challenge experience is very interesting and great as we can create an app and learn how to develop coding in our daily life problems. The increase of confirmed cases in Malaysia and the seriousness of the covid-19 diseases recently have been worried by all the people around the world. The above situations have inspired us to do this project. Our project approaches to create an app and make a risk calculator solve the problem. Each people in our team have divided our part equally. However, we still practised the united skill to face the setbacks and challenges. For instance, we will make some discussions about the problem and think about the way to solve it. Thus, it will lead us to the success of our project. Last but not least, we would like to thank the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research (MESTR) and Realfun Learning Centre for giving us a golden opportunity to participate in the SpaceApp Challenge Event. With an aspiration of providing young and upcoming talents with suitable teaching and learning environments, they have prepared some relevant platforms to drive innovation.
