COVID-19 Tracker: Risk Calculation and Recommendation

High-Level Project Summary

Our project is a mobile application called “COVID-19 Tracker”, which provides all information related to COVID-19 worldwide so that people from all over the world can be aware of individualized and geolocated COVID-19 risk. Using our app, users can know their COVID19 risk through geolocated COVID19 info such as Total active cases, total death cases, and recovered instances daily. Through our app, people will get recommendations such as what type of mask to wear, it is safe to travel or not, about quarantine, etc., according to their geolocation’s infection rate. Our app will provide how COVID19 impacts the environment, socioeconomic, seasonality based, water availability, and world economics

Project Uniqueness

Our application can calculate COVID19 risk, provide recommendation according to geolocation’s infection probability. Our application can detect whether a person is wearing a mask nor not and provide COVID-19 impacts on environment, seasonality, socio-economical and world economics .

How we used NASA space agency data


Space Agency Data:


NASA EARTH DATA: This data has been used in our app to show impact of COVID19 on environment, seasonality, water availability and world economics.

NASA SEDAC: This data has been used to show global COVID-19 viewer: population estimates by age groups and sex

COVID-19: Worldometers API: This API has been used in our app to show all COVID-19 statistics all around the world. 

Hackathon Journey

It was a great experience for all of us. We learned how to implement an app and deploy it. We choose this challenge because as COVID-19 problem is a global phenomena. We wanted every person to know the COVID-19 risks and what they can do to stay safe. Our setbacks and challenge was collecting the COVID-19 data as there were many sources available but few of them is actually accurate and gives accurate data. So to overcome this we needed to do some research of our own and select the best source out there. And lastly, we would like to thank our mentor Mr. Safaet Hossain Sir as he was very helpful along our whole journey.
