Covid 19 calculate is a mobile application used to get insights about covid 19, get warnings of potential possibilities to catch covid 19 in a certain area, get advice on how to prevent yourself from getting affected, and helps you to plan your trip in different areas after analyzing the situation of covid 19 in these areas.

It works by getting the app, register or login, get data about covid 19 in your location or any in other locations, get warned on how to behave in that area to avoid catching covid 19, and to achieve all of these the app uses data from different trusted sources, analyze the data, compare weather conditions and give you better insights and warnings.

There are several benefits that this application brings such as helping in reduction of covid 19 spread, provision of data in all in one platform, helps people to get information about covid 19 in any place they wish, helps them plan trips with covid 19 status, and prevention measures in mind and many more.

By designing and developing this application, we wanted to add our efforts in the fight against covid 19 and reduce its spreading speed. And we came up with this app which will help people to get information about covid 19, get warnings, and preventive measures to follow.

To build this application we used different tools and technologies and the most ones are: Figma for prototyping, Node js, Postgres for API, react and redux for the web version of the app, react native for mobile app development, we have consumed different APIs to get covid 19 related data, NASA's weather data to analyze weather in different locations and many other tools.

In this app, we used different space data but the one we used the most is weather data from NASA. we used weather data to help us in analyzing which warnings to give to the user because we all know that covid 19 situation changes with times and its spread is in many ways attached to the weather condition so we used weather data to provide insightful warnings to the user on how to behave in any area that he/she is located in.

Weather data inspired our project a lot because our app is 50% based on weather and the other 50% based on covid 19 situation

Our hackathon journey

It alls started a few weeks ago when we decided to attend the hackathon but we are going to focus on 2 days of the actual hackathon. It started yesterday(Saturday) in the morning with a kick-off call, we were all excited because we have had time to look through all available challenges, access the resources, and had chosen the challenge to solve so the kick off call was like a reminder and a go-ahead to start implementing our ideas, we spent few minutes on kick-off call and then took our time to develop our ideas and in the afternoon there was another check-in call to update the hosts and mentors about the progress. at the end of the day, our team had already finished prototyping and started working on API.

Today(Sunday) was a great day because we started implementing the prototypes and in the afternoon we had another check-in call to again check the progress. Our team spent the whole afternoon working on a submission and preparing slides for explaining our application.

In these two days, we can say that we enjoyed every single moment while developing the app because we are always happy when showing the world what we are capable of.

We met few challenges like hardships in finding the right API that gives covid 19 related information but it didn't affect us a lot or stop us from moving on with the app. We are unstoppable and we find a solution for every problem that is the UZAKURA team.
