VACUNATICS

High-Level Project Summary

Our team has developed an App that achieves to integrate open source data about COVID-19, creating a portable and easily accessible tool for users. Vacunatics allow it to enhance aspects such as: identification of possible risk sources through personalized notifications in real time, characterization of prevention points, notification of available vaccine types and the definition of a standard digital vaccination card. In this sense, Vacunatics solves the Space Apps NASA 2021 challenge through a reliable, secure and scalable application, which will allow stakeholders to make a transition from physical data to the cloud in an organic and organized way.

Detailed Project Description

Vacunatics has 5 main sections, the map that gives us data on vaccination points, availability of vaccines, capacity that may represent a latent risk of contagion in public places and appointment scheduling; the agenda, which keeps track of appointments and reminders; the home, an initial section with a feed of relevant news on the subject; My vaccines, where we can add the immunizations we need and keep track of the doses and certification of the same and the profile where we have our personal information and we can generate a QR with the necessary information that we present at the time of vaccination with the intention of making the process much, faster, more efficient and avoiding the tedious phase of filling out forms manually.

First, the visualization of places with high probability of being points of contagion from the gauging in them and the disclosure of data on vaccination points and available doses, second, the facilitation of the immunization process avoiding the filling of forms and allowing the download of certificates at the request of the user and third, to allow the management of vaccines and the monitoring of doses.

The project was developed with the Marvel online prototyping tool and we accompanied the information with a google sites page as a way to go deeper. We believe that this project beyond just fulfilling the objective of the challenge has a great potential and scalability that allows it to be an application that targets all people.

Space Agency Data

  • NASA SEDAC Current COVID-19: This dataset was used to identify the population, the number of doses administered, reported cases, and real-time monitoring to measure points of contagion risk.

  • COVID Data Tracker: Used to visualize the vaccination schedule of the population classified by age range and country.

  • MINSALUD: Used to validate the authenticity of the vaccination certificate before the sanitary and public health entities of the country.

  • WHO: To consult COVID-19 statistical data such as: affected population, number of vaccinated, reported cases and mortality rate by country.

Hackathon Journey

Being part of this event has led us to think creatively about solutions that can have a great impact on society. The current pandemic situation has been our main motivation to inspire us to solve this challenge, as we found ourselves in a situation where looking for a solution has involved us facing new challenges such as the issue of COVID-19 vaccination, crowds and mismanagement of efficient dissemination of the vaccination point. We plan to expand the application and make digital vaccination cards for the entire local population. The NASA Space Challenge made us look at global problems and invited us to challenge ourselves and create solutions to the problems that concern our society.
