High-Level Project Summary
We selected, as an example of the use of satellite data, the Japanese rice “Seiten no Hekireki (青天の霹靂)” in Aomori of Japan. The satellite data is used to analyze the growth of Seiten no hekireki. Because Aomori developed an app for a tablet device to allow farmers to know when they should harvest Seiten No Hekireki, they can harvest the rice when the quality is high. Furthermore, we made a tool which can estimate the optimum harvest date. In conclusion, we deduced 7 indicators to evaluate the value of Earth Observations in this project. Therefore, we concluded that using satellite data has a good effect for Seiten no Hekireki which demonstrates the value of earth observations.

Detailed Project Description
We gathered information on the Aomori brand of rice, “Seiten no hekireki”, mainly through searching, to demonstrate that the use of satellite data has a positive effect on the cultivation and harvesting of “Seiten no hekireki”. We used the web sites of the Aomori Prefectural Government and Aomori Prefecture Industrial Technology Center, and indicated below, we developed a program, which uses data from the AMeDAS satellite, to determine the sprouting season. We believe that the use of the data with satellite demonstrates development of Seiten no Hekireki as a brand rice in Aomori. We mainly use website searching, in particular, Aomori prefectural office and Aomori Prefectural Industrial Technology Research Center. Furthermore, we used AMeDAS data as the following: temperature.

Hackathon Journey
The hackathon was very difficult and I felt the level was high. But it was fun. I want to try again. I will do my best to improve my skills.(Ginko Mochizuki)
Having first learnt about the Spaceapps challenge a few days ago, I was filled with trepidation. I’m impressed with the management skills my colleagues and all Hackathon participants have demonstrated in planning, outlining, and drafting their project; conducting all necessary research within such a short time-frame; and finalizing their projects under intense pressure. I would like to thank Ms. Watanabe for inviting me to join the PROTOSTAR team as well as this wonderful community. I would also like to thank Mr. Odagaki and Ms. Mochizuki for making me feel welcome in the warm and friendly environment that is PROTOSTAR. Acting mainly in a support role, I regret not being able to contribute more, but if they were to have me again, I would be honoured to join them in future endeavours. (Adam Harding)
I want to thank the hackathon and our members. By this challenge, I got many interests for the universe and the data from satellites, and I have decided to study more how to overcome problems which have not been solved. (Miho Watanabe)
I enjoyed busy days !! See you Next year ! (Odagaki Yuuki)
