MartianExplorers

High-Level Project Summary

Our team has chosen this challenge because we want to show, via an interactive game that we have created, landing and doing research on Mars. Thus, we will learn characteristics of this planet and we will be able to make decisions to advance our journey in an educational way.Through our game we show that this planet may in the future become a habitable place option in parallel to the Earth, for this reason it is fundamental to provide factual and true information to the population in order to evaluate the possibilities that Mars can offer us.

Detailed Project Description

We address the problem of population density in the medium short term, researching statistics on the subject.

“The world population is expected to increase by 2 billion people in the next 30 years, going from the current 7.7 billion to 9.7 billion in 2050, and may reach a peak of about 11 billion by 2100” (UNO, 2011).

Overpopulation is one of the most important causes of most of the problems in the world. It does not matter if it is a lack of food, clean water or energy, any country in the world has or will have to face it.

In part, thanks to the importation of goods from other countries, a country can maintain its level of well-being. However, this will not last forever. Furthermore, the number of inhabitants per country continues to increase. In the coming decades the number of inhabitants of the world will tend to grow and more and more countries will need their own products in order to survive.

Potential impact:

  • Educational impact: it is mainly an extra resource since many schools are working only with theoretical guides, in some cases with images and very rarely day or night observations with the appropriate equipment.
  • The inclusion of playful things in the classroom and public in general.
  • The gamification process helps to address content from another point of view, not only from natural sciences, it encourages teamwork, the inclusion of students with some difficulty (where the material in paper format is insufficient for understanding).
