A journey to the moon

High-Level Project Summary

Astronomy is not given in international curriculums for elementary kids. Our project is making a video gallery that shows simulations of Apollo missions to educate young students about the mission process and the facts of the Saturn V, The lunar module and more using descriptions on the simulation.

Detailed Project Description

Our project wants to educate kids about the process of Apollo missions in a fun way. It works with a video gallery app that has multiple simulations of Apollo missions The benefit is that it can make students have a education about the rocket launching to the lunar landing process. Our hope is that we can help students to be educated about Apollo missions to the moon and make a difference. We used Android Studio to code. Android Studio is the official integrated development environment for Google's Android operating system. In android studio there is Flutter we used flutter to code. Flutter is an open-source UI software development kit created by Google. And to simulate we used Blender. Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software. To composite the simulation we used Adobe After Effects. Adobe After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application.

Note:  Sorry for the inconvenience in the mobile app we switched lunar and staging videos if we have time for the future we will fix them.

Thank You!!

Hackathon Journey

Our hackathon experience was good and helpful because it gave us additional knowledge, more teamwork skills & a fun time. There we're some setbacks but we solved them. We also learned how to efficiently gather & organize data. Our team was inspired to choose this challenge because we wanted to help kids have a great grasp in astronomy. Astronomy was the science that made the technologies that we used to make our project or even use in a daily basis. If young people have a knowledge of astronomy will be inspired by it and there will be more astronauts who will improve & even revolutionize the scientific field. Our approach was first brain-storming ideas from all team members long before October & then choosing the ideas that'll be most useful. After we chose our minimum viable product (MVP) & final product we organized our schedule. Then came the research. The research data was gathered a from various websites (include NASA's website). We then used our skills to apply the research into the MVP which we gradually transformed to the final product. To resolve setbacks our team would discuss the best way to do it. When research data was inefficient, we'd do the research on the subject. NASA's websites like the 3D resource website helped not only to make up our setbacks but also to accelerate our work. We'd like to thank Ethiopian Space Science & Technology Institute for helping us accomplish our work, providing resources & more. We'd also like to thank NASA for organizing this fun challenge & providing necessary answers for questions, research data & other resources. We'd also like to thank the global collaborators for providing more data, aid & offers. Lastly, we'd like to thank our families who supported us from the beginning.
