Green Keeper

High-Level Project Summary

GreenKeeper is an intuitive and glocal app (think globally, act locally) that attempts people to embrace the responsibility of acting in a greener and healthier way, by being well-informed of climate variables (e.g. Air and soil Temperature, Pollution matter, UVindex, etc ) with tendency to indicate hazardous climate conditions showing the users alerts and other health recommendations. Besides, Green Keeper also propose the GreenGold initiative. A digital currency within the app with which the users can buy bio-sustainable products from certified sellers or donate to worldwide environmental foundations and initiatives.

Besides, Green Keeper also propose the GreenGold initiative. A digital currency within the app with which the users can buy bio-sustainable products from certified sellers or donate to worldwide environmental foundations and initiatives.

Space Agency Data

Principal data source: Giovanni (https://giovanni.gsfc.nasa.gov/giovanni/)

Secondary data sources: CloudSat

The data was used to know the variables available for analysis, the sampling frequency and the last available date, among other variables. With this, it was possible to think of alternatives to generate enriched information, such as predictions, alerts, anomaly detection, and more.

Hackathon Journey

It was a good experience to think of ideas that can help people or solve a problem that is affecting them. We learned a lot about identifying different sources of data, accessing them and being able to extract valuable information. Another very valuable learning is the experience of designing something that is attractive to people, and that motivates them to take action. We chose this challenge because it seems to us that from our knowledge we can generate ideas that help people to be better informed and to take care of themselves and the environment. During the development of this project we always appeal to people's good will and think about what things could motivate us to help the environment, and what we would like to be informed about.
