Ega situation has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!
The construction of the Ega situation website was geared towards solving the challenge Things are heating up! The way found to solve this challenge was to create a platform that used satellite data to monitor and follow up on burning in the Amazon. For that, we intend to use an algorithm that, from the images in its RGB format, converts to B&W according to the vegetation density of the analyzed place. With this monitoring, we will be able to create alerts, graphs and various other reports on the progress of deforestation and their display will be available through the website and through e-mail reporting to local authorities.
We want to use an algorithm of Machine Learning to process the inputs (satellite images), converting the RGB image to a Black and White image - So some RGB properties will have null values and the input will be lighter. After converting the image (now in two colors) the algorithm will map the points (pixels) of the image and read the color intensity on a scale from 0 to 255 (0 being totally dark and 255 being totally light).
To calculate these
scales, we will therefore use the density of vegetation. Where the vegetation
is denser, that is, the image is darker, the trained model will understand that
the forest is in better condition there. Where the vegetation is less dense, the
satellite images will be clearer, and the algorithm will understand that the
forest there has lost density. Thus, he will be able to monitor in real time
the conditions of forest density and generate graphs or statistics that will be
evaluated by himself. From the second assessment, the algorithm will be able to
detect the potential for increased deforestation. The application's host server
will issue an alert to competent authorities, previously registered, informing
the location of the location.
The system will be maintained by a competent institution but may be consulted via the web by the company. Society will be aware of the events and will be able to report/disclose on their social networks through hashTags suggested by the system itself, making this knowledge public and making appeals to environmental agencies. On the site, there will be a news feed, where we will index the main news about fires and risks, taking advantage of modernity and involving the community with the theme.
All our data for applying the algorithm will use INPE's image catalog at www.dgi.inpe.br and from them we will make the necessary filters for the algorithm.
My experience in space apps has been innovative, and interesting, in addition, the topics covered at the event are very relevant to our life and learning, generating projects that help improve the performance of humanity.
Our project is being elaborated interactively and creating an artificial intelligence tool, in order to collect data and disseminate it through a website that can promote monitoring and follow-up with the fires, involving the community and causing a commotion to the environment. environment.
Our team works to verify conditions of deforestation and forest degradation over time and everyone's commitment was what made us get here. It's a hard-working opportunity for sure, but it bears fruit that will mark not only our lives, but also those of the people in our city.

This project has been submitted for consideration during the Judging process.
Climate change is expected to exacerbate heat-related extremes that impact human health and environmental and ecological systems. Your challenge is to build a tool that uses Earth Observations (EO), crowdsourced data, and models to provide warnings about potential impacts of these events, along with guidance on mitigation measures.
