High-Level Project Summary

We developed an environmental health digital assistant. Our assistant is developing conversational platform technologies that can perform tasks related to recording and monitoring climate change as well as disseminate information about fires in the region and the location of residence of the users of the system.Each user can send via their cell phone reports of events related to climate change such as forest fires or forest fires, lack of energy due to weather problems, reduction of water levels, pollution or loss of crops.The report captures event photography, location informed by geographic coordinates, local weather data with updated weather information and forecast API.

Detailed Project Description

We developed an environmental health digital assistant. Our assistant is developing conversational platform technologies that can perform tasks related to recording and monitoring climate change as well as disseminate information about fires in the region and the location of residence of the users of the system.

Each user can send via their cell phone reports of events related to climate change such as forest fires or forest fires, lack of energy due to weather problems, reduction of water levels, pollution or loss of crops.

The report captures event photography, location informed by geographic coordinates, local weather data with updated weather information and forecast API.

These data are recorded in a database for analysis and alarming. With our request, we are able to disseminate the information that is collected from the Earth through the Earth Heat Image Satellite.

We believe that the dissemination of satellite information in a decentralized manner and on any mobile phone allows information to reach those directly affected by climate change. These in turn can act actively by informing the local events they observe and if they reflect the satellite information that is collected from space.

We thus establish a two-way communication between information from space and users on earth who are impacted by climate change in a collaborative and reactive way.

Our digital health assistant or chatbot manages to spread the information collected by the agency and the National Institute for Space Research (INPE/Brazil) in collaboration with NASA.

Chatbot can work on different channels like website, messaging apps like Whattsapp, facebook messenger, telegram and other channels widely available in our environment.

Integration technology for the development of conversational applications or digital healthcare agents using conversational platforms in services (SAAS), use of API and HTTP requests for sharing and querying API information, management panels with statistical analysis of databases, georeferencing with geomap applications. Use of messaging apps on smartphones.

Space Agency Data

The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument is aboard the joint NASA/NOAA Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) and NOAA-20 satellites. (Note: Prior to launch, NOAA-20 was known as the Joint Polar Satellite System, or JPSS-1, satellite.)

Hackathon Journey

The journey was very fruitful for helping to develop awareness of climate issues in the team and participants. Interaction with mentors, lives on the subject, especially on aspects of social and environmental development, technologies available to monitor global changes, public information available by space agencies around the world. I was not aware of the use of terrestrial surface monitoring technologies and their public availability for consultations and assessments on climate change and its effects on people's lives in general.
