Go High

High-Level Project Summary

The development of a high-level hot air balloon containing sensors and an electrical circuit in order to measure the temperature and some toxic gases in the air and to give an alarm in case the temperature rises above the normal level, which may lead to several damages. The project aims to warn organizations and people in order to avoid these damages resulting from high temperature.

Detailed Project Description

A special hot air balloon that contain an electric circuit, sensor, and GPS, then linking the results with Urban Climate Change Research Network.

The circuit brain is programmed UNO Arduino that is connected to a set of sensors to measure different parameters when the air balloon up in the sky. Also connected to GPS module to define the area with its parameters. UNO Arduino collect and analyzed data and sent them back to the Blynk app with a location. Whenever something gets higher or lower than usual, a notification will show up.

For the application, the Blynk app is used since it is compatible with Arduino. We design a new project and install graphics and gauges to display obtained readings. The humidity and temperature are graphically represented, while the gases and the pressure are in gauge. Also, the direction and location of the air balloon is specified. Hence, the user could read the result easily and be notified when there is a sudden change in any parameter. In addition to knowing the location of his/her air balloon.

The benefits of our project are many, as it reduces the damage that may be caused by climate change, high temperature and some toxic gases. It sends warnings in order to avoid some diseases during heat waves. We hope that NASA will accept our project and develop it by linking it with its data. Also, the project is widely used to protect people and our planet.

We used equations, circuit design software, 3D project drawing, electrical circuit, sensors, data from NASA to develop the project.

The project can grow and expand by making people aware of its importance. Also, the addition of sensors to some important factors that may affect human health and the earth, such as chlorofluorocarbons.

Space Agency Data

The Urban Climate Change Research Network (UCCRN) inspired us in linking our project with the data available in it and is very important in our project development.

Hackathon Journey

The experience was full of excitement and spaceflight towards innovation and creativity. we learned how to search, think creatively to solve problems and choose what is an appropriate low-cost solution. We chose "Warning Things are Heating Up" challenge because we think that nothing is more important than people’s health and our planet. In addition, The sunshine and summer season made us wonder what will happen if the earth becomes hotter!

We had overcome obstacles facing us by managing the time, trust each other work, looking for new ideas, organizing our ideas, making a plan to follow with specific deadlines, and working hard.

We would like to express our special thanks of gratitude to NASA as well as the SAUID SPACE COMMISSION who gave us the golden opportunity to do this wonderful project on the topic Go High, which also helped us in doing a lot of research. Hence, we became familiar with so many new things.

We are thankful for each other as one united team. We collaborate a lot in finalizing this project within a regardless limited time frame.
