The Journey Of Discovering The Synthetic Aperture Radar.

High-Level Project Summary

Our project talks about the Synthetic Aperture Radar Technology, which is one of the forms of developed radars that are used to create 2D or 3D images of objects. We aspire to simplify the idea of technology for the audience through the video and raise their curiosity to search for the topic more. In the future, we hope that this technology will develop furthermore and can change and help in solving a lot of the issues that our earth is having. Besides, we are believing that more people from different fields will be able to use and understand the importance of this technology and how impactful it could be to them.

Detailed Project Description

Hurricanes and earthquakes are among the greatest and most powerful natural disasters, and also include changes in weather conditions, so in our project, we talked about the technology Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). The challenge here was to explain a purely scientific material or technology to anyone in the world and non-experts, whether it was a friend or a family member whether it’s one of your parents or even your young sibling.

Therefore, we have designed a video that does not exceed five minutes in which we explain the Synthetic Aperture Radar technology with examples and realistic information, but with a simplified and understandable explanation for non-experts or for those with experience with expressive videos that allow them to learn more about the importance of this technology and the way it works.

The benefit of our project lies in clarifying and showing our creativity in designing and creating a video that is suitable for all individuals and ages and clarifying a scientific idea in the form of appropriate storytelling, even for children, and in a way that attracts their attention.

Our team aspires and hopes to present a video that wonderfully narrates the information and presents it creatively, even for those who are not interested in science or even have a background in the scientific aspect.

Space Agency Data

Most of our information was derived from NASA data. We also looked at the concept of synthetic aperture radar and how it works from EARTH DATA (Open Access for Open Science).

We also used sources that contain many images and videos to create a background and understanding of the synthetic aperture radar technology, such as the California Institute of Technology Multimedia Resource, which helped us to create a video that includes video clips that smoothly explain this technology. Therefore, we watched a cartoon video source (Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR): For Forest Structure), which allowed our mind to shoot an idea to allow the method of storytelling in our video and to make it easier for all categories in society.

Hackathon Journey

We were very glad to participate in the NASA Space Apps Challenge hackathon competition, as it is one of the most beautiful opportunities that we have had. Despite the pressures and pitfalls, we've been through, However, we continued and lived with these difficulties to achieve our goal, which we seek and aspire to. We have gained many experiences that enabled us to successfully overcome this challenge, such as hard work and cooperation that made a huge difference in turning a simple idea into a great achievement that the community is proud of. The idea that was presented to us by NASA is beautiful, but we added our mark and our own touches to develop and present it in a manner commensurate with the criteria presented. The source of inspiration was by watching videos about technology and NASA examples presented, and we had some ideas that we can present in the form of storytelling, whether for children or for people who do not have enough experience or experience. We would like to thank NASA for giving us this wonderful opportunity and experience that has added so much to our lives and society.
