Synthetic aperture Radars or SAR is an emerging technology which can change the way we look at satellite images now. The team has collectively created a video which gives the information about synthetic aperture radar and its working principle. The video was created with the aim to make people informed about the latest technology trend in RADARs and how it can make our lives easier. When such complex subjects are made easy for people to understand, people and specially young minds get interested in learning and innovation. This is why it is important to give people an easier access to the information relating to new technologies.
The video created by the team starts with explaining what does a RADAR mean and how it works in various applications from military to aerospace sectors.
The video further tells the importance of an aperture, or and opening through which a radar system can send or receive the reflected electromagnetic waves. Also, it shows the viewer how the changing aperture size changes the overall quality of results.
The video shows how the particular drawback of traditional radar systems is overcame by the synthetic aperture radar.
THe video further shows the basic principle of working of the synthetic aperture radar. It also shows why this particular system has gotten the name "synthetic aperture".
The video further shows how this radar gives 2 dimensional images of terrain and with greater computation, it can give us three dimensional mappings of terrain too.
We hope this video to be educational about the latest technology in radar systems. As SAR is quite sophisticated system and still in improvement phase, with this video, the people who are interested in gaining information about it can get an abstract view of how this whole system works and why is it important for us to develop.
To complete this video, the team had used the free version of Canva video making tool.
The Magellan probe of NASA which focused on studying the second planet of our solar system, Venus. Magellan probe had SAR technology.

The team used the photos of Venus taken by Magellan probe to compare it with normal images of Venus.
The experience of completing this challenge has been self-fulfilling, We knew that the technology is available, but learning about it and seeing how it can help in further space exploration or even to map our own planet well was interesting. We learnt how SAR actually works and also that Indian space agency ISRO and American NASA are working on a collaborative project to launch a satellite under the name NISAR which will contain synthetic aperture radar technology.

This project has been submitted for consideration during the Judging process.
Upcoming space missions will provide an abundance of Synthetic Aperture Radar data; however, the tremendous impact this data can have will only be realized if the public understands the data and its potential. Your challenge is to create a 2-5 minute video explaining Synthetic Aperture Radar technology to the public in your own language with English subtitles.
