High-Level Project Summary
The SAR Radar Explanation Video provides a basic introduction to the SAR and InSAR, especially how they work in Sentinel-1 satellite. We first address the building collapse of Surfside’s Condo, the subsidence of Pisa Tower, and the breakdown of San Francisco Millennium Tower. Using the data from the European Space Agency, we analyze geological deformation maps of San Francisco and the Bay Area. After comparing the subsidence data from the SAR of Shenzhen and the Bay Area, we make the hypothesis of the coastline subsidence and its impact on cities. At last, we forecast the future development of SAR in cities' subsidence warnings.

Detailed Project Description
The video provides an additional view from subsidence to show the audience how SAR works. Especially InSAR who had the function that had an advantage used in terrain displacement. The video addresses the severity of subsidence connected with the building collapse event in 2021 and shows the audience the reason SAR being the best solution to these problems. We hope to achieve that this video can show the importance of SAR to the audience and use specific data to acclaim the extremity of certain city’s subsidence. We use iMovie to edit the video and Templatemo to create an introductory website.

Space Agency Data
We use data from the European Space Agency of satellite Sentinel-1’s displacement map of the Bay Area to analyze the subsidence. We also use the Alaska Satellite Facility’s sensor band information to create an example showcase of how SAR works. These data above all appeared in our video project and inspired us in further understanding the function of SAR and the subsidence of certain cities. Open data of Sentinel-1 gave us further inspiration about the working function of the satellite and map generator software.
Hackathon Journey
We will describe our Space Apps experience as a brand new adventure. This is our first time participating in this Hackathon and the feedback for us is excellent. From the chat of the Space Apps Challenge, we acquainted participants from all over the world. This experience for us is unbelievable because it lets us have a feeling of working together with the whole world. Our team chose this challenge of “What on Earth is Synthetic Aperture Radar?” because at first, we don't even know what this technique is. After we read the background and introduction of the challenge, we gained full interest in this radar and made the decision of solving this challenge. We thought that explaining something we don’t know in the first place to the audience is a great challenge for us, but it also helped us to fully understand the technique. After we got further and further into SAR and its sub-branch, we rejoiced in our decision of choosing this challenge more and more.
