We Have Found the Cure! SAR; "Synthetic Aperture Radar".

High-Level Project Summary

We know that few people in our country care about space but doesn't know too much about climate and space problems and the changes that happens by the time. We will seize the opportunity to explain this to our people using the simplest way as examples that they see and deal with daily to make them understand the importance of Radars and what are the changes that happened and the problems that were fixed or how it can be fixed using the resourced NASA provided. Raising awareness about such topics will make people more interested to learn and thus surely take a positive step towards making our planet a better place.

Detailed Project Description

  • Synthetic-aperture radar may be a type of radar that's accustomed create two-dimensional images or three-dimensional reconstructions of objects, like landscapes. SAR provides finer spatial resolution than traditional stationary beam-scanning radars by moving the radar antenna over a target location.
  • A synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is an energetic sensor that first transmits microwave signals and so receives back the signals that are returned, or backscattered, from the layer. The instrument measures distances between the sensor and also the point on the layer where the signal is backscattered.
  • The RADAR SAT: Was made on June 12, 2019, the three satellites work together to find solutions to key challenges for Canadians. Its mission is to use a trio of satellites to need daily scans of our country and its waters, Identification systems collect information about our country to acknowledge the matter and find a solution for it.
  • SAR technology is used to: Effective maritime surveillance, keep our ecosystems healthy and keep people safe.
  • The benefits of SAR that we want to make people aware of: determining the state of the ice, assisting captains in navigating Arctic waters , transporting supplies to isolated villages , assisting northern communities in crossing ice safely for hunting and fishing, collect critical data that aids in the knowledge of climate change in order to safeguard the environment and wildlife ,Farmers utilize satellite data to track soil moisture levels, lowering the amount of water, pesticides, and fertilizer they use in the process to protect and improve the environment for future generations, Satellite photographs help rescue crews respond more quickly and save lives.
  • Methodology: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) it seems complicated but the criteria behind the (SAR) goes by collecting active data where the sensor produces its energy and record amount of energy reflected back after interacting with the Earth. The Synthetic meaning simply identified by the higher the antenna the higher the spatial resolution, The more signals gathered the higher the resolution of the image, as an example a 10 m range spatial resolution require from a 4,250 m which seems a major problem… The Scientific hint for this method works through sequence of acquisition, many shorter antennas combined where simulating a larger antenna to provide the high-resolution data. The more signals gathered the higher the resolution of the image. Unlike optical imaginary satellites, SAR penetrates cloud and works at night. The Radar utilizes the higher Wavelength at cm-m scale, which gives ability to see through clouds.
  • We are working in parallel threads to activate the teamwork core principles. The team has a different background for that we have to organize the way of working using project management methods, time lining, schedule, data collection, analyzing and communicate with the experts and local leaders. In the out team we use agile and implementing scrum framework to maximize the efficiency and minimize the time, cost and handle the problems and changes in a flexible way. The main focus is on the main goal that is delivering a simple video that explains Synthetic Aperture Radar Technology. In a hackathon, we will try to implement our ideas into a real solution with high quality. We will brainstorm and extract the knowledge that we have learned through resources and other searched resources, then think of an implementation method that will implement the data we have extracted and learned with modern techniques.

Space Agency Data

All data we used was supported by NASA and the free access/ resources of the challenge . Such as; videos, links, articles, books, references and guidelines.

Hackathon Journey

We gained more skills, knowledge and experience in different fields , and we learned how to do more in a short time.

we also learned how to skip the stressful moments to continue our work.
