High-Level Project Summary
Our challenge is that ,despite the availability and effectiveness of SAR data, the impact of these data is insufficient due to lack of public acquaintance of it.Our mission was to make a video explaining this technology to the public. Our targeted audience varies from a young child to a researcher or a scientist. We had to keep it simple and accurate. We made a video explaining this technology mentioning SAR techniques, comparing it to other satellites and raising awareness of its huge impact and its societal beneficial applications. Our video is important as it induces people to search more about SAR and open their eyes on data they can benefit from in their researches and daily jobs too.

Detailed Project Description
We made a 4-minute video explaining SAR technology.
The video main points are:
- what’s SAR?
In this point we define SAR briefly to catch your attention.
- It’s not optical.
here we make a small comparison between SAR and optical satellites in the term of penetration and ability to shoot through all conditions.
- It’s an active sensor!
we briefly explain the difference between active and passive sensors to show how SAR can work independent of the sunlight.
- What does SAR mean?
Here we discuss the meaning of “synthetic aperture” and how scientists used synthetic moving short antennas instead of the physical huge antenna and aperture.
- SAR techniques.
In this point we explain two of SAR’s special things: that it can send waves in different polarizations and various wavelengths bands.
- SAR’s data applications.
last, we inform the public of its beneficial application and induce them to use these data too.
Benefits:
- it’s informative and useful for any viewer.
- it’s one of a kind as there isn’t any Arabic content on this subject online yet.
Space Agency Data
We made the most of the data provided by NASA and it was our main source of information as they fulfilled our desire to learn this field through structured explanations with simple language about space.
Seeing SAR missions like NISAR was very inspiring for our team and motivated us to share information about it to public so they can understand its importance.
We used these data beside information from YouTube and online articles to present the technology of SAR in a simple language.
Hackathon Journey
It was a different and exciting experience, but we were curious to learn more about synthetic aperture satellites to educate the world about its importance and the extent of its use and the benefits it provides to humanity, although the road was very difficult to learn this type of modern technology in our world and the short time was only two days ,But we pushed our passion to achieve this and we hope that the Arab world and whole world benefit from this unique experience of it's kind that we have gone through.
