WHAT ON IS SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADAR

High-Level Project Summary

While researching about SAR, we realised that it is an extensive topic with scattered information which comprises of various technical and complex phrases. We, THE STARGAZERS have tried to simplify the topic to an extend which can be understood and enjoyed by every age group.

Detailed Project Description

SAR is a type of active data collection where a sensor produces its own energy and then record the amount of that energy reflected back after interacting with the earth.

Remote sensing helps in gathering information regarding various objects on earth’s surface which are not easily accessible by human beings. As other sectors of Remote sensing are having limitations in collecting information on presence of dense clouds or heavy rainfall as well as for the areas under vegetation cover or within the soil.

SAR in the past has detected earthquakes and landslides. SAR has noted the flow of ice in greenland caused due to global warming. SAR is beneficial for mankind for various purposes, finding lost cities and for coverage in areas with dense vegetation.

SAR helps in overcoming these difficulties to an considerable extent. Even though SAR is extremely useful for mankind it’s difficult to understand, we as a team have tried to explain the topic in a way which can be understood and enjoyed by every age group.

We have used various applications like power point presentation, canva and kapwing to make this video.

Space Agency Data

We used NASA space agency data.

We understood the topic and used specific data from the NASA to make our video more informative .Even though the topic is difficult to understand the information on NASA made us understand the topic so easily. which inspired us to make a video which is easily understandable and enjoyed by people of all age group.

Hackathon Journey

This was our first hackathon and it was an absolute delight. We learnt a lot about SAR, it's working and applications. We also learnt to coordinate with each other and work as a team. We understood how mentoring works and how the opinions of our seniors can be useful to enhance our project. We tried to simplify this vast and complex topic to an extent which is understandable by both children and adults. We faced a few difficulties and challenges on the way, but we believe it only made us stronger as a team and taught us to give our best in every situation. Last but not the least, i would like to thank all the seniors, advisors and organizers in Aaruush and the NASA space app challenges for making our first hackathon this memorable.
